2006 WORLDWIDE CONFERENCE OF THE
GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR JUSTICE EDUCATION
27 November - 2 December
Cordoba, Argentina
GAJE held its 4th global conference in Cordoba, Argentina from 27 November until 2
December 2006. The theme was 'Educating Lawyers for Social Justice: Law,
Poverty and Social Change'. The conference looked at various methods for
educating lawyers, particularly clinical legal education, which focus on advocacy
and the formation of policy.
Poverty and social change are of pressing concern to
those involved in justice education in South America,
and around the world. How can the law both serve and lead social justice? How
can the law redress the devastating harms of poverty arising from some forms
of social change? Such questions provided the context for the conference's
discussion of justice education, which was structured for the most part around
small group and workshop sessions.
