Short Bio: For the past 10 years, Mai Linh Spencer has taught clinics and other classes at the University of California – Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. She is the Academic Director of the Lawyers for America program and also teaches the Individual Representation Clinic, Evidence, and Essential Lawyering Skills. She began her legal career as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, prosecuting federal criminal civil rights violations, including excessive forces, racial violence, and trafficking cases. She then represented capital and non-capital defendants on direct appeal and habeas as a California Deputy State Public Defender.
