Short Bio: Marjorie Silver is Director of the Externship Program and Professor of Law at Touro Law Center. Professor Silver is a contributing author and editor of The Affective Assistance of Counsel: Practicing Law as a Healing Profession (Carolina Academic Press 2007), and Transforming Justice, Lawyers and the Practice of Law (Carolina Academic Press 2017). Her chapter, Work and Well-being, appears in the current edition of the standard textbook for legal externs, Learning from Practice: A Text for Experiential Legal Education (Wortham et al., eds, 3rd ed., West Academic Publishing 2016). A practitioner of meditation and yoga, Professor Silver’s passion is to support her students in finding ways to enhance their well-being, as well as ways to practice law that will support their well-being and that of their clients. Professor Silver received her undergraduate degree from Brandeis University and her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She served as law clerk to U.S. District Judge Joseph S. Lord III, E.D. PA. She came to law teaching after a decade in the federal government, where she served as Chief Regional Civil Rights attorney for the U.S. Department of Education, Region II.
